How to win lane as Kled against Illaoi · 48.4% win rate (531 Emerald+ games, lolalytics, sampled July 2026) · Matchup data reviewed on patch 26.15
Her tentacles shred your mounted HP in her zone and the E-grab punishes your pull. Never all-in in tentacles.
Track: Illaoi's E — Test of Spirit (16–12s cooldown). Dodging this is the whole matchup.
Read from Kled's seat: which stage windows this plan plays for against Illaoi.
| Stage | Favoured | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Kled | You concede nothing here — she has no spammable poke and is slow to build her field, so step up and set up your Level 2 trade. |
| Level 2 | Even / skill | W's on-hit shots give you a real burst window, but a tentacle-less Illaoi can still answer with E, so it's a genuine coin-flip skill check. |
| Level 3 | Illaoi | Your full re-E all-in wants melee range, but that's where her tentacles live — by 3 the E (Test of Spirit) pull plus tentacle slaps out-trade you. |
| Levels 4-5 | Illaoi | Stacked tentacles mean every joust in costs Skaarl mount HP and heals her, so her field out-sustains your percent-HP Q across 4-5. |
| Level 6 | Illaoi | Her R (Leap of Faith) raises a tentacle wall that melts your mount on any dive — you cannot all-in into her ult window. |
| First item | Illaoi | Her Blade of the Ruined King plus tentacle stacks out-sustain your Eclipse/Trinity burst — her first-item field DPS beats your peak here. |
| Two+ items | Illaoi | You both fall off the stat-check, so it evens — but respect her R in fights and only engage her field on your terms with R flanks. |
Levels 1-2 are your only clean window — you concede little at 1 because she's slow to set up, and once W (Violent Tendencies) is online your fourth-attack on-hit shots out-burst a tentacle-less Illaoi. Hit her with a short Q-W trade and back off before her tentacles exist. The trap: the moment she lands E (Test of Spirit) and rips your spirit, her tentacles slap you for free and your re-E all-in just feeds her sustain. Do NOT sit in her field trading autos.
