"At levels 1-5 Kayle is a pure melee with no ranged attacks yet — her only reach is Radiant Blast (Q), a ground-targeted slow-and-mark, while her E (Starfire Spellblade) only adds on-hit magic damage at melee range until it goes ranged at 6. Even so she out-trades you here, because your Null Sphere is short-ranged, eats your mana, and you have no Riftwalk to escape or close until level 6. Do not throw Q to trade — you cannot afford the mana and her Q mark/slow lets her stick. Farm defensively, use Nether Blade on minions and on her when safe to keep your pool topped, and lean on Void Stone's 15 percent magic reduction to soak her on-hit chip. Concede these levels; just do not die, and do not fall so far that her scaling becomes unanswerable."
