Levels 1-3 are your only clean window, so use them. Open with RQ Soulflare the moment Mantra is up — Shen has no way to close the gap before he gets Shadow Dash at 6, and the delayed Soulflare zone plus a follow-up Inner Flame (Q) forces him to eat chip he can only partly sustain through Ki Barrier. Stack Q poke at max range and let Gathering Fire refund your Mantra as your hits land, so you can rotate RQ again quickly. The trap is his W, Spirit's Refuge: never step into that zone to auto, because it blocks every basic attack — and blocked autos refund no Mantra and build no passive stacks.
