Akshan is one of the few ranged tops with an actually weak early — Heroic Swing is an 18s cooldown at rank 1, so the moment he spends it he cannot kite far and that is your cleanest window. Step up with a Q snip and E in for a quick on-hit before he can chip you with Avengerang, then back out — your passive %-HP autos chunk even his low HP bar fast. The rest of the time he grapples over a wall whenever you commit, his Avengerang out-ranges everything you have, and Hallowed Mist only shields you from enemies outside it — which is a kiter's whole plan, so the mist buys almost nothing. Last-hit safe and accept you are behind until two items.
