How to win lane as Akali against Aatrox · 47.31% win rate (3,940 Emerald+ games, lolalytics, sampled July 2026) · Matchup data reviewed on patch 26.15
His Q-sweetspots out-poke you and the drain out-sustains your burst. Shroud the all-in and roam for picks.
Track: Aatrox's Q — The Darkin Blade (14–6s cooldown). Sweetspots knock up. Shroud-dodge them.
Read from Akali's seat: which stage windows this plan plays for against Aatrox.
| Stage | Favoured | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Even / skill | Aatrox is weak at level 1 before his Q combo and passive heal come online — but you only have kunai (Q) and no Shroud, so neither side can commit a kill; it's a farming stalemate. |
| Level 2 | Even / skill | He still lacks the Chains-into-sweetspot-Q combo to lock you down, and you can't reset trades without Shroud yet, so you trade kunai and farm even. |
| Level 3 | Aatrox | With two ranks of Darkin Blade his sweetspot knockups out-trade you and his passive heals the chip back, while you still have no sustain to answer it. |
| Levels 4-5 | Aatrox | Even with Shroud online his drain wins the extended brawl — the smoke breaks his target-lock so you can reposition, but it doesn't negate his Q or Chains, and he beats anything past one combo. |
| Level 6 | Aatrox | Your R execute is real, but his Chains plus passive heal means if he slows-and-pulls you mid-combo he survives and kills you — he edges the all-in. |
| First item | Aatrox | His Eclipse heal spike swallows your first-item burst in any trade that lasts past one rotation, so he still owns the brawl through this window. |
| Two+ items | Akali | With 2+ items your magic burst finally outraces a no-MR bruiser Aatrox — catch him with Chains down, E-flip in and execute before his drain matters. |
Levels 1-3 are close but tilt his way once he has a couple ranks of Darkin Blade. I have only my kunai (Q) and no Shroud yet, so I can't reposition out of trades — I just farm at Q range and refuse to stand on the inner edge of his swings where the sweetspot lands. The whole lane is respecting his Infernal Chains (W): if it tags me it slows then yanks me in, and he chains it into a sweetspot Q knockup for his full combo while his passive heals it all back. Don't facecheck into a Chains, and don't burn E chasing a last hit he can punish.
