How to win lane as Sylas against Veigar · 50.33% win rate (6,086 Emerald+ games, lolalytics, sampled July 2026) · Matchup data reviewed on patch 26.15
His combo is a sprint and yours is a treadmill — shield the opener, heal the middle, and out-last the math.
Track: Veigar's E — Event Horizon (Cage, 20–14s cooldown). Only the cage EDGE stuns — hold position near the center or leave before it forms; never dash into the wall.
Read from Sylas's seat: which stage windows this plan plays for against Veigar.
| Stage | Favoured | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Sylas | Veigar has no mobility level 1, so your Chain Lash trades win freely. |
| Level 2 | Sylas | At level 2 he still only pokes with Q while you hold all-in threat. |
| Level 3 | Sylas | Level 3 lets you bait his one escape (Event Horizon) and dive. |
| Levels 4-5 | Even / skill | Through 4-5 his cage is his sole defense, and dodging it means a kill. |
| Level 6 | Sylas | At 6 your combo out-races his AP stacks before Primordial Burst matters. |
| First item | Even / skill | First item burst kills him before his passive scaling snowballs. |
| Two+ items | Even / skill | Late you can Abduct from angles the cage cannot cover, keeping your lead. |
Veigar is immobile and does almost nothing threatening at levels 1-2 beyond poking last-hits with Q Baleful Strike. Step up and trade with Chain Lash into a Petricite Burst auto; he has no way to punish you back without wasting mana. Deny his Q farm-stacks where you can, because every kill on a minion or you feeds his infinite AP scaling.
