How to win lane as Brand against Swain · 58.64% win rate over 353 Emerald+ games · Updated 2026-07-27
| Stage | Favoured | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Brand | Brand's faster stun beats Swain's slow root, giving you free combos early. |
| Level 2 | Brand | Brand continues to control trades before Swain has ultimate access. |
| Level 3 | Brand | Brand keeps poking safely while Swain still lacks a reliable engage tool. |
| Levels 4-5 | Brand | Brand's stun-combo pattern still wins most short trades pre-6. |
| Level 6 | Swain | Swain's Demonic Ascension gives him sustain and DoT pressure that wins extended fights at this level. |
| First item | Brand | Brand's ranged poke and burst reassert control once Swain's ultimate window passes. |
| Two+ items | Brand | Brand's burst before ultimate ramp-up and item scaling keep winning skirmishes into the late game. |
Swain's root has decent range but a very telegraphed windup, and your Pillar of Flame stun comes out faster, so if you play with good spacing you can consistently stun him first and land a full combo before his root ever connects. He has no ranged poke besides landing that root, so if you deny it entirely he's stuck auto-attacking into your longer range with nothing to show for it. Keep pressuring his mana and HP through levels 1-2 so he never gets a comfortable base timer.
