How to win the jungle race as Kha'Zix against Viego · Matchup data reviewed on patch 26.15
Read from Kha'Zix's seat: the race windows this plan plays for against Viego.
| Stage | Read | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 Clear | Even Skirmish | Dead-even at the first buff: isolation-bonus Taste Their Fear chunks anyone who face-checks alone, while the Blade of the Ruined King passive sustains them through attrition trades. Whoever arrives with more HP and cooldowns wins, so track their clear and pick the moment. |
| Level 2 Skirmish | Even Skirmish | Neither side cleanly wins level 2 — a Spectral Maw stun into Q sustain-resets snowballs the fight off the first landed hit, but Void Spike's heal-poke wins the slow trade war at river entrances. Trade only from full health; with one camp still up on both sides the first mis-step decides this, not the kits. |
| Level 3 Route | Even Skirmish | The stun-into-Q-reset pattern is a strong duel and stronger off any takedown, and that is worth exactly what you bring: iso Q damage at level 3 already deletes squishier junglers caught solo. Contest the first scuttle when your health bar is the higher one and not before. |
| Levels 4-5 Macro | Even — Farm & Track | Even through 4-5. He plays 4-5 around Harrowed Path vision and looks for any fight that leaves a body to possess, so mirror it: farm the same tempo, ward the same crossings, and take the fight only with numbers. |
| Level 6 Breakpoint | Even Ult Window | Neither ultimate cleanly beats the other — the Heartbreaker execute into possession resets snowballs any skirmish he wins, but your first evolution means isolated targets simply die — hunt the side brushes. The breakpoint goes to whoever reaches it first with an objective on the map. |
| First Item Spike | Eclipse | Eclipse is your first item here: it adds burst to the Isolated Q-E combo and a shield for the trade, while Void Assault (R) invisibility still hides your next Unseen Threat burst. Against Viego this matters most in scrap kills near a corpse: whoever secures the takedown and vanishes first denies the other side of the Sovereign's Domination possession contest. Use this window to hunt Viego in river or side lanes rather than force fights into his group. Viego's first item is where the sustained damage becomes a duel he wins outright rather than a trade he survives. |
| 2+ Items Scaling | Respect Viego Late — End Early | The full-build comparison goes to Viego: every kill his team gets is a reset, so one lost fight becomes three. Play for picks and objectives, and end before the fight has to be fair. |
Start your clear at the Blue Buff node to optimize early ability haste cycling across single-target nodes before executing a clean full clear path down into the scuttle crab. Viego clears fast off the Blade of the Ruined King passive and sustains through it, so his early health is never a problem.
