How to win lane as Swain against Yone · 47.98% win rate over 421 Emerald+ games · Updated 2026-07-27
| Stage | Favoured | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Yone | Yone's Q closes before your E is leveled and he wins the straight Level 1 trade — last-hit at Q range and give him the first few autos rather than fight a losing skirmish. |
| Level 2 | Even / skill | Soul Unbound is up at Level 2 but Yone hasn't fully committed his pattern yet — a precisely-timed E when he overextends for a minion can start the root chain, making this even on who lands their setup first. |
| Level 3 | Even / skill | W-into-E is online but Yone dodges E with Q dashes and snaps back with Soul Unbound — this stage is even only if you track his rewind activation icon before throwing E. |
| Levels 4-5 | Yone | Yone's Q cooldown shortens and he chains dashes through your E — you lose the straight trade here; shove and play for the Level 6 power shift rather than contesting every all-in. |
| Level 6 | Swain | Demonic Ascension's healing absorbs his burst and Demonflare nova catches him on the Soul Unbound return path — this is the one stage where your win condition is genuinely cleaner than his. |
| First item | Even / skill | Yone's Kraken Slayer or Immortal Shieldbow spike gives him a shield that eats your W poke and true damage that laughs at your fragment-stacked HP — the advantage is genuinely contested here. |
| Two+ items | Yone | Yone's Q3 true damage and R knockup break your R drain before fragments accumulate — he outscales your attrition win condition and you lose the extended 1v1 cleanly. |
At Level 1 Yone straight-up wins the short trade — his Q closes the gap before you have E, and all you have is a narrow Q cone that he walks out of. Stand at your wave's back edge, last-hit with Q, and do not step into auto range. You concede this level entirely. At Level 2 you gain E but Yone is also Level 2 with Q already leveled, so the threat is real on both sides — fish for the E only if he dashes predictably onto a minion and you have the angle. At Level 3 with W available your poke pattern begins: place W on his expected dash landing spot so the slow catches him mid-momentum, then fire E into the rooted landing. The problem is Yone's E spirit-rewind — if he activated Soul Unbound before you landed the root, he snaps back regardless, so track that E activation icon and only commit your full combo when his Soul Unbound is clearly on cooldown.
