Level 2 changes the dynamic: the moment E is up, look for him to step onto the wave and fire E to root him, then immediately activate your passive pull to drag him close and stack a soul fragment. The catch is Sanguine Pool — if he pools the root or the pull, you have committed your main setup tool for nothing, so only throw E when you have clear vision of his W cooldown bar. By Level 3 your W-into-E pattern is live: drop W on his likely step, let the slow pin him, then E-root into Q-burst. He cannot pool a delayed W he failed to notice until it is too late. Keep the wave on your side of lane so he must walk into your W circle to last-hit.
