How to win lane as Ornn against Cho'Gath · 57.01% win rate over 1,433 Emerald+ games · Updated 2026-07-27
| Stage | Favoured | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Ornn | He has to enter melee for Q knockup while you're just farming — neither of you wants to commit, but you're never behind here. |
| Level 2 | Ornn | His Q-W is his only real harass and you can sidestep the slow Q line; keep last-hitting and don't feed early Feast stacks. |
| Level 3 | Ornn | W (Bellows Breath) gives unstoppable percent-HP poke and a shield his melee Q can't answer — you start out-trading. |
| Levels 4-5 | Ornn | E into your Q pillar knocks him up and stuns; Brittle detonation bursts a Cho who has no dash to dodge it. |
| Level 6 | Cho'Gath | This is his Feast spike — a stacked R is a true-damage percent execute that can flip an all-in, so he edges the kill window if you fight low. |
| First item | Ornn | Your first-item Heartsteel/Sunfire plus W-poke makes you a tankier lane bully than a still-stacking Cho. |
| Two+ items | Even / skill | He out-tanks you and his true-damage R ignores your armor — it's even at best because your free Masterwork upgrades and CC chain keep your teamfight ceiling high. |
Cho'Gath has to step into melee range to threaten his Q knockup, and that's exactly where my W (Bellows Breath) punishes him — it's unstoppable, shields me, and chunks a percent of his max HP while applying Brittle. Levels 1-2 I'm mana-starved and weak like always, so I just last-hit and respect his Q-into-W silence combo if I'm caught out of position. From 3 onward my W out-trades his harass and I start eating his stacks off the wave before he can Feast freely.
