How to win lane as Irelia against Yasuo · 51.19% win rate over 1,432 Emerald+ games · Updated 2026-07-27
| Stage | Favoured | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Even / skill | Level 1 is a coinflip — you both have one ability and his E lets him dash in to poke, so just farm Q-resets and do not trade into his Windwall. |
| Level 2 | Irelia | You spike harder at level 2 — your second ability point gives you a real all-in or zoning tool before Yasuo has his Q tornado stacked, so contest the wave here. |
| Level 3 | Irelia | Your E (Flawless Duet) stun into a Bladesurge reset is the first true combo; place the second blade behind him so Windwall and his E-dash can't save him, then ramp Ionian Fervor on-hit. |
| Levels 4-5 | Even / skill | Levels 4-5 even out — your cooldowns are tightening but his E-dash kiting and Windwall let him slip the all-in if you mistime the engage, so it's skill-on-skill. |
| Level 6 | Irelia | Vanguard's Edge (R) walls off his E-dash escape lanes and flow-shield retreat — your premier dive once his Windwall and Q3 are spent. |
| First item | Even / skill | First-item skirmishes are a wash — your reset uptime and armor shred are strong, but he's a half-step from crit and his Windwall still answers ranged engage. |
| Two+ items | Yasuo | He out-scales you: two crit items plus Windwall and a Q3-into-R suspend let him block your engage and break your dash chain, so play for objectives over the 1v1. |
Levels 1-2 are twitchy and close to even, but you can steal the lead: you out-stat him at level 2, so look to zone him off the wave or chunk him before he stacks his Q tornado. Farm with Bladesurge (Q) resets and respect that his E (Sweeping Blade) lets him dash through your minions to poke and reset his flow shield. The trap is his Windwall (W) — it eats your Q-reset poke and ranged casts, so do not blow your engage into a Yasuo sitting on W. At level 3 your E (Flawless Duet) comes online: fence him with the second blade placed BEHIND him so the stun still catches him if he dashes, then Q-reset in and start stacking Ionian Fervor.
