Dodge his hook — E-Q burst his low-damage tank kit.
Track: Nautilus's Q — Dredge Line (14–10s cooldown). His only engage. Dodge it.
Read from Gragas's seat: which stage windows this plan plays for against Nautilus.
| Stage | Favoured | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Even / skill | He trades evenly at level 1 and you have no sustain trigger online yet — last-hit at range and don't walk into a Q hook for nothing. |
| Level 2 | Gragas | Q+W comes online: your Drunken-Rage auto and Happy Hour out-heal his autos and Riptide chip, so you win the slow trade. |
| Level 3 | Even / skill | His Q hook into a Staggering Blow auto-root can chain-CC you before your combo is maxed — even window, so bait the hook before you commit. |
| Levels 4-5 | Gragas | W max and Happy Hour let you out-sustain his poke and tank stats, turning extended trades clearly in your favour. |
| Level 6 | Gragas | E-W-Q plus Explosive Cask is a real all-in a single-knockup tank can't survive — Body Slam in and knock him into your tower. |
| First item | Gragas | Your Riftmaker spike bursts a tank's health bar while omnivamp and Drunken Rage damage reduction eat his trade-back. |
| Two+ items | Gragas | Naut has no 1v1 scaling — your combo still beats his tank stats, so keep dueling and just respect his teamfight Depth Charge. |
Naut trades evenly early but he can't out-sustain you — a Drunken-Rage-empowered auto plus Happy Hour heals back every bit of chip his autos and Riptide poke do. The whole danger is his Q: a point-blank hook drags you in, his next auto roots you off Staggering Blow, and that's how he sets up a gank, so never Body Slam into him while his hook is up. Take Q+W at 2, last-hit at range, and start winning the slow trades.
