How to win lane as Morgana against Zilean · 46.51% win rate (2,808 Emerald+ games, lolalytics, sampled July 2026) · Matchup data reviewed on patch 26.15
A utility mirror your root headlines — their shields delay the binding; nothing cancels it.
Track: Zilean's R — Chronoshift (120–60s cooldown). The revive undoes your kill — force it early or swap focus when it glows.
Read from Morgana's seat: which stage windows this plan plays for against Zilean.
This is Morgana's own plan; across 2,808 pooled games the lane is leaning Zilean.
| Stage | Favoured | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Even / skill | Level 1 is even, with his long-cooldown bomb traded against your Bind threat. |
| Level 2 | Even / skill | At level 2 it's a skill matchup: his double-bomb stun versus your ability to dodge and punish. |
| Level 3 | Even / skill | Level 3 stays even as his mana-hungry poke trades against your pick pressure. |
| Levels 4-5 | Morgana | Through 4-5 your Bind-into-R is the only real lockdown, letting you dictate all-ins. |
| Level 6 | Morgana | At 6 your Soul Shackles all-in beats his lack of engage even accounting for Chronoshift. |
| First item | Morgana | On first item your CC chain can kill through a single revive if your ADC follows. |
| Two+ items | Zilean | With 2+ items Zilean's revive, speed-buffs, and long-range stun out-scale your single-pick kit. |
Levels 1-3 are even and skill-driven: Zilean's double-bomb stun out-ranges your Bind but costs heavy mana and a long cooldown, so the lane hinges on whether you can dodge the first bomb and punish the gap, or whether he lands the stun to set his ADC's poke on your carry. His bomb pair out-ranges your binding, so hold position and let the pool hold ground instead. Keep the shield for the stun rather than the chip, and hunt the binding once both bombs are already spent, because that is the only stretch where he cannot answer it.
