He pokes a magic sponge — shield the rotation, dodge the root, and taunt the conversion.
Track: Vel'Koz's E — Tectonic Disruption (12–10s cooldown). The knockup starts the true-damage rotation — dodge it and the research stalls.
Read from Galio's seat: which stage windows this plan plays for against Vel'Koz.
| Stage | Favoured | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Vel'Koz | Vel'Koz's level-1 Q Void Rift out-ranges your entire melee kit so he controls the opening. |
| Level 2 | Vel'Koz | At 2 his Q-plus-W combo chunks your duo while your E has no setup, keeping him ahead. |
| Level 3 | Vel'Koz | At 3 his sustained rift poke still out-trades a Galio with no gap-closer online. |
| Levels 4-5 | Vel'Koz | Through 4-5 his range and true-damage passive keep you soaking rather than trading. |
| Level 6 | Galio | At 6 your Flash-E or R Hero's Entrance closes distance and cancels his channeled ult, flipping the lane to you. |
| First item | Vel'Koz | First-item power spikes his poke and Organic Deconstruction damage back above your frontline. |
| Two+ items | Galio | By two items engage decides fights and your R flank onto an immobile Vel'Koz wins the teamfight for you. |
Vel'Koz owns levels 1-3: his Q Void Rift and W Plasma Fission poke from ranges your melee kit can't contest, and with no engage online you and your ADC bleed HP just walking to CS. Hold W Shield of Durand to eat the biggest hits and don't int a level-2 all-in into his superior poke. His reach beats everything you own, so hold the shield toward him and let your carry take the safe farm. Poke with the tornado only when he has already committed a cast. Punch after his knock-up is spent, since that is the one thing that interrupts a wind-up.
