A pick mirror — his hooks versus your stuns; yours work through walls and his don't.
Track: Thresh's Q — Death Sentence (19–9s cooldown). The hook starts the lantern chain — dodge it and the playbook waits 19 seconds.
Read from Bard's seat: which stage windows this plan plays for against Thresh.
| Stage | Favoured | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Even / skill | Level 1 is even before Thresh has Flay, with both sides just trading autos and skillshots. |
| Level 2 | Thresh | At level 2 Thresh's hook-into-Flay chain plus lantern follow-up wins the all-in. |
| Level 3 | Thresh | Through level 3 his Death Sentence keeps outranging your trade spacing. |
| Levels 4-5 | Thresh | Across levels 4-5 his hook-and-lantern kit dictates the lane's pace. |
| Level 6 | Thresh | The Box shreds your disengage routes, so level 6 belongs to Thresh. |
| First item | Thresh | His first item scales the roam-and-pick pattern his hook enables. |
| Two+ items | Even / skill | Late your pick and disengage utility match his playmaking, and his long Q cooldown evens the lane. |
Level 1 is even, but Thresh takes over the moment he has Flay: a landed Death Sentence (Q) hook chains into Flay and his lantern brings his ADC in for a kill, and his hook outranges your comfortable trade spacing. Body-block the hook with minions, never walk in a straight line toward him, and only step up when his Q is down. Bank Magical Journey to break the chain if he does connect. Level one is even and everything after it is not, so take the early chimes and then stop stepping forward. Put your own body in the path of the chain instead of trying to sidestep it. Hold the binding for the beat after it misses, and aim it so a wall makes the window real.
