How to win the jungle race as Master Yi against Trundle · Matchup data reviewed on patch 26.15
Read from Master Yi's seat: the race windows this plan plays for against Trundle.
| Stage | Read | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 Clear | Danger — Avoid Trundle | Hard no-contest for Master Yi at level 1: Chomp (Q) steals AD on hit, so their level-1 trade is rigged in their favor, and Chomp steals your AD mid-fight and Pillar traps you inside his Frozen Domain. Refuse extended trades in his W zone and save your dash until after Pillar lands. Path opposite, ward your entrances, and let the clock carry you to your own spike. |
| Level 2 Skirmish | Danger — Avoid Trundle | Chomp steals your AD mid-fight and Pillar traps you inside his Frozen Domain. Frozen Domain (W) attack speed makes their buff-pit duel one of the best in the game on top of that, so level 2 is a straight stat check Master Yi loses — refuse extended trades in his W zone and save your dash until after Pillar lands, and give the river vision-line respect. |
| Level 3 Route | Danger — Avoid Trundle | Trundle out-classes you at the opening scuttle — Pillar (E) cuts the escape — with Q AD-steal and W haste the duel is theirs, and Chomp steals your AD mid-fight and Pillar traps you inside his Frozen Domain. Give up the level-3 river fight, full-clear away from them, and trade map pressure instead of health. |
| Levels 4-5 Macro | Respect Trundle — Path Opposite | Do not trade windows with Trundle here: he uses 4-5 to steal camps and contest your jungle, where Pillar of Ice cuts off every retreat. Path opposite, keep your entrances warded, and answer the map, not the champion. |
| Level 6 Breakpoint | Even Ult Window | Neither ultimate cleanly beats the other — Subjugate steals your health and resists and beats you with your own stats, but Highlander's slow immunity plus Alpha resets snowball any post-6 cleanup. The breakpoint goes to whoever reaches it first with an objective on the map. |
| First Item Spike | Kraken Slayer Spike | Completing your core item triggers a massive physical damage, attack speed, and on-hit multiplier that completely overpowers traditional brawlers or isolated targets. Trundle's first item is a real threshold — the sustain plus stat theft makes long fights ones he cannot lose. |
| 2+ Items Scaling | Master Yi Favoured — Wins Late | From two items you out-scale Trundle. He steals your stats mid-fight, so the longer the duel runs the worse it gets, but none of that beats your full build in a straight fight. |
Start your clear at the Red Buff camp to maximize early health sustain and the burn's damage over time on later camps. Trundle clears fast in Frozen Domain and heals off King's Tribute, so he arrives at every crossing at full health.
