How to win the jungle race as Master Yi against Rengar · Matchup data reviewed on patch 26.15
Read from Master Yi's seat: the race windows this plan plays for against Rengar.
| Stage | Read | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 Clear | Danger — Avoid Rengar | Do not be seen at the first buff: a brush-leap empowered Savagery removes half your HP before you can react. On top of that, a brush-side Savagery leap is the hardest level-1 opener in the jungle, so they get there first. Hug the centre of corridors away from brush — his entire kit needs a bush to function. Skip the level-1 crossing and farm the opposite quadrant until your spike lands. |
| Level 2 Skirmish | Danger — Avoid Rengar | Hard no-contest for Master Yi at level 2: Battle Roar's heal plus ferocity stacking wins extended buff fights, and a brush-leap empowered Savagery removes half your HP before you can react. Hug the centre of corridors away from brush — his entire kit needs a bush to function. Path opposite, ward your entrances, and let the clock carry you to your own spike. |
| Level 3 Route | Danger — Avoid Rengar | A brush-leap empowered Savagery removes half your HP before you can react. A 4-ferocity empowered Q already one-shots squishier junglers near any bush on top of that, so level 3 is a straight stat check Master Yi loses — hug the centre of corridors away from brush — his entire kit needs a bush to function, and give the river vision-line respect. |
| Levels 4-5 Macro | Respect Rengar — Path Opposite | Levels 4-5 still belong to Rengar in a straight fight — farm the opposite side, answer their ganks cross-map, and wait for your spike. |
| Level 6 Breakpoint | Highlander Favoured | Highlander's slow immunity plus Alpha resets snowball any post-6 cleanup. A stealthed R leap opens the fight with a full-ferocity burst you never see coming — respect that one window, but the six-spike comparison favors you: take the post-6 duel whenever HP bars start even. |
| First Item Spike | Kraken Slayer Spike | Completing your core item triggers a massive physical damage, attack speed, and on-hit multiplier that completely overpowers traditional brawlers or isolated targets. Rengar's first item is the point where an empowered Savagery stops chunking and starts one-shotting squishier targets. |
| 2+ Items Scaling | Master Yi Favoured — Wins Late | Rengar falls off relative to you — from two items on you win the raw stat check, even though he leaps from stealth and removes a squishy before the health bar finishes updating. Drag the game long and force the 1v1s. |
Start your clear at the Red Buff camp to maximize early health sustain and the burn's damage over time on later camps. Rengar clears well off Battle Roar healing and Savagery resets, and he arrives at three with ferocity ready to spend.
