How to win the jungle race as Evelynn against Taliyah · Matchup data reviewed on patch 26.15
Read from Evelynn's seat: the race windows this plan plays for against Taliyah.
| Stage | Read | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 Clear | Respect Taliyah | The window at the first buff belongs to Taliyah: Threaded Volley on worked ground still chunks melee contests. Your own line is real — pre-stealth Evelynn is the weakest level-1 champion in the jungle — farm hidden — but it arrives second here. Don't chase her across worked ground — the mine slow turns retreats into kills, then skip the level-1 crossing. |
| Level 2 Skirmish | Respect Taliyah | At level 2 this window belongs to Taliyah: boulder-field poke plus the W shove keeps duels at their range, and a W toss into a stunning boulder field bursts you at every choke point. Don't chase her across worked ground — the mine slow turns retreats into kills. Refuse the level-2 skirmish and bank tempo on the opposite side of the map. |
| Level 3 Route | Respect Taliyah | A W toss into a stunning boulder field bursts you at every choke point — Evelynn has no answer to that at level 3. The W-into-Q burst combo plus E mine field wins fights at choke points on their half of the map too, so give up the level-3 river fight and answer the pressure cross-map. |
| Levels 4-5 Macro | Evelynn Favoured — Take Duels | You hold the edge at 4-5, not a blowout. She uses 4-5 to shove waves and cross the map, with worked ground making her the faster rotator, so meet them where the camps are, not where their laners are. |
| Level 6 Breakpoint | Demon Shade Domination | Demon Shade camouflage means you choose every post-6 fight — and they cannot. Weaver's Wall splits the map on their side, and it still does not cover the gap — the moment both ultimates are up, force the fight on a spawning objective. |
| First Item Spike | Lich Bane / Stormsurge Spike | Completing your core AP component turns your stealth lane transitions into lethal, instant-delete sequences against any squishy target configuration. Your camp clearing velocities become completely automated, letting you clean up sides in seconds before melting down lonely targets inside the river lanes. Use this spike to force immense tracking panic across their entire map space. Taliyah's first item makes the volley-into-shove combo a real burst instead of chip damage from range. |
| 2+ Items Scaling | Evelynn Favoured — Wins Late | From two items you out-scale Taliyah. She zones with mines and splits the map with the wall whenever she wants to, but none of that beats your full build in a straight fight. |
Start your routing path on the Raptors camp to optimize your early Q spike area clearing loops before executing a full 6-camp clear toward your opposite side river boundary. Taliyah clears very fast with Threaded Volley on worked ground and rotates faster than almost anyone off her passive.

No clear favourite — Evelynn holds 4 windows, Taliyah 3, the rest are even.
Yes — Evelynn vs Taliyah plays as a skill matchup: the jungle race swings window to window, and the better first clear usually sets the tone.
Evelynn takes Electrocute on the Domination tree with Sudden Impact, Grisly Mementos and Relentless Hunter, and Sorcery secondary (Transcendence and Gathering Storm) vs Taliyah.
Start Gustwalker Hatchling + Health Potion and back for Dark Seal + Amplifying Tome — stay invisible to lanes' mental. Build Lich Bane / Stormsurge first, then Lich Bane, with Sorcerer's Shoes.
