How to win the jungle race as Elise against Briar · Matchup data reviewed on patch 26.15
Read from Elise's seat: the race windows this plan plays for against Briar.
| Stage | Read | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 Clear | Respect Briar | Head Rush's stun gives a clean engage trade at the first buff contest, and Elise has no clean answer to it at the first buff — Blood Frenzy lifesteal out-heals your full combo once she commits. Disengage cleanly or finish her — half-measures just feed her frenzy healing, and give up your opening camps rather than the kill. |
| Level 2 Skirmish | Respect Briar | The window on the second camp belongs to Briar: Blood Frenzy sustain turns level-2 skirmishes into races she usually wins. Your own line is real — Cocoon plus spiderling damage starts winning straight fights — but it arrives second here. Disengage cleanly or finish her — half-measures just feed her frenzy healing, then refuse the level-2 skirmish. |
| Level 3 Route | Even Skirmish | Dead-even at the opening scuttle: the famous level-3 spike: Cocoon, Rappel, full spider burst — the strongest duel window in the game, while frenzy healing plus charged Chilling Scream is one of the hardest level-3 all-ins. Whoever arrives with more HP and cooldowns wins, so track their clear and pick the moment. |
| Levels 4-5 Macro | Respect Briar — Path Opposite | You lose the 4-5 duel. She spends 4-5 looking for a lane with CC, because the Blood Frenzy dive only fails when nobody follows it — so let them have that half of the map and cash the other half faster. |
| Level 6 Breakpoint | Respect Briar's R | Briar wins the breakpoint outright — Certain Death picks the target and the frenzy finishes it, and Certain Death locks onto you from across the screen with a self-fearing all-in. Peel her with CC mid-frenzy — she cannot disengage her own ultimate, then trade objectives cross-map until your items land. |
| First Item Spike | Elise Power Spike | Sorcerer's Shoes plus a burst magic item like Riftmaker or Liandry's Torment scales your percent-health Neurotoxin/Venomous Bite damage sharply, which matters against a Briar who has no ranged poke to punish your Cocoon setups from a distance. Use the spike to force dives before her Crimson Curse healing lets her stabilize a bad fight. Briar's first item is a step change: the frenzy lifesteal starts out-healing full combos rather than just chip damage. |
| 2+ Items Scaling | Danger — Briar Outscales | The clock is your enemy. She heals through most burst and can no longer be duelled below half health, so close the game on the first two objectives you actually win. |
Start your clear at the Blue Buff camp to secure optimal mana regeneration loops before executing a fast 3-camp transition straight into an aggressive lane gank or invade path. Briar clears fast and healthy because Blood Frenzy heals her through the camps, so she is usually first to the river.

Briar pressures 5 of the 7 windows in this race — survive the early game and scale into your windows.
Not exactly — Briar pressures 5 of the 7 windows, so Elise is playing catch-up and has to lean on the map.
Elise takes Electrocute on the Domination tree with Cheap Shot, Grisly Mementos and Relentless Hunter, and Inspiration secondary (Magical Footwear and Cosmic Insight) vs Briar.
Start Gustwalker Hatchling + Health Potion and back for Dark Seal + Amplifying Tome — level 3 gank pays for it. Build Liandry's Torment first, then Rylai's Crystal Scepter, with Sorcerer's Shoes / Mercury's Treads.
